The movie revolves around Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), a former US Secret Service agent who becomes the head of security for the White House. During a ceremony, the White House is attacked, and most of the staff, including the President of the United States (Aaron Eckhart), are taken hostage. Banning manages to escape and starts a one-man mission to rescue the President and save the country from a terrorist organization led by a former US military operative.
