To watch the full film is to submit to Kubrick’s pacing. He famously believed that the audience should absorb the texture of space. That is why you see a shuttle docking to the Blue Danube Waltz for nearly six minutes. Cutting that down is considered sacrilege.

The year is 1999. Dr. travels to the Moon aboard the Orion III spaceplane. He is investigating a top-secret discovery. Upon arriving at the Clavius Base, he confirms a cover story for the press: a biological epidemic is false; the base is simply quarantined for excavation. 2001 A Space Odyssey Full
