Newlywed couple Ted and Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted must prove he is a person in a court of law. With the help of his best friend John (Mark Wahlberg) and a young lawyer named Samantha (Amanda Seyfried), Ted embarks on a ridiculous journey to fight for his civil rights.

In this installment, Ted has married his girlfriend, Tami-Lynn. The couple decides they want to have a baby to save their rocky marriage. However, to qualify to be a parent (or even use a sperm donor), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts declares that Ted is not a person, but property.
