Connect your external drive right now. Open Settings > System > Storage > Backup options. Toggle on File History. That single action will protect your files from the next Windows 11 update gone wrong, a ransomware attack, or a failing SSD.
Ensure it has enough space (at least twice the size of your internal data).
Choose your external hard drive and click Next .
